Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo)

Order: CHICKEN-LIKE BIRDS (GALLIFORMES ORDER)
Family: PHEASANTS, GROUSE AND RELATIVES (PHASIANIDAE)

Included in ABA Region.

They are common in California parks, grass lands and open woods, . Can be seen all day, best time after egg hatch when small chicks follow parents. They are no secretive, especially males can be aggressive towards strangers, , .
